Pine Resin/Sap

Traditional use: Pine resin is an aromatic that has some amazing drawing qualities. We use pine resin only topically. If you’re in the pines and get a sliver, simply get some sap and put it on the sliver.  Sap is antibacterial and antifungal. It’s also warming and has decongestant properties made into a salve. Due to sap’s warming and stimulating nature, it is soothing and warming to sore muscles and painful joints. Make a salve and rub it in.

Pine resin is wild harvested. The shelf life is very long. It will melt if heated. If you get sap on something you don’t want to, rub it with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer. Because Herb Pocket workers harvest pine resin straight off pine trees there are pieces of wood in it. Therefore, the weight of the product is more than the weight you pay for. In this way we are hoping to be fair.

Do not take pine resin internally.

Sap Tipped Pine Cones    Sap tipped pine cones are a great fire starter.

Using an old can or a pan that’s just for pine resin, melt sap over medium low heat.

When the sap is all melted, using two sticks or tongs, dip the pine cone’s scale ends in the sap. The sap will cool quickly.
